The Amanda Gorman Gift of Fellowship, a gift created by Lisa Sukenic, covers the cost of registration to attend AROHO’s Global Summer Camp (August 10-14, 11-2pm ET, Zoom enabled), for one young woman poet of color.
In the spirit of youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman’s poem In This Place (An American Lyric), and to hear and honor all voices, I offer a fellowship to AROHO’s Global Summer Camp for a poet who needs to make time and space for her creativity. – Lisa Sukenic, poet, teacher, and Global Summer Camper
We are delighted to announce the recipient for The Amanda Gorman Gift of Fellowship is Fiona Alwora. Fiona’s submission of spoken poetry was luminous. You are invited to read an excerpt of it below and discover more about Fiona and her work here.

Tempting as it is to build a pyre
and be done with it
Keep those sticks and stones
Trust me
Build a bridge
and watch who finds their
way to you.
