Sumner Crenshaw Artist Statement:
Summer Crenshaw’s artwork is a narrative blend of abstraction and surrealism, imbued with
lines and movement. Hopscotching between genres, Ms.Crenshaw’s work draws on a variety of
artistic influences, from Salvador Dali to Shel Silverstein.
Ms.Crenshaw earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Johnson State College in 2006, and
earned her Masters of Fine Arts with a focus in Oil Painting from the Academy of Art University
in 2009. She has been working professionally since 2004, and has exhibited her work across
the Eastern United States. Her work is in collections in the U.S., Sweden, Switzerland and
Saudi Arabia. Relocating from Vermont to Maryland in 2010, Ms.Crenshaw currently resides in
historic downtown Frederick, where she spends the majority of her time creating artwork and
spoiling her little dachshund.
Since 2008, Ms.Crenshaw has been represented by Ugallery.
