Nancy Iannitelli Artist Statement:

I define myself as a lifelong visual artist, painter, sculptor, and creative spirit. For more than five decades, art has been the constant thread connecting my curiosity, experiences, and desire to communicate. My work moves freely between portraiture, abstraction, mixed media, and sculpture, continually evolving as I do. I am also a philanthropist who believes creativity can connect people across cultures and circumstances. At 76 I remain intensely curious and creatively driven. I see no boundaries of age or medium- only the continuing need to experiment, and create.

Art is the language I have used throughout my life to express what I cannot always put into words. It allows me to respond to beauty, humanity, conflict, emotion and change. Whether I am painting a face, creating and abstract, in my garden, or experimenting with a new medium, I am searching for connection. My art records where I have been while continually pushing me toward what comes next. This gives me purpose, freedom and a sense of discovery. It is not simply what I do; it is an essential part of who I am.

“Ode to Georgia O’Keeffe” is a tribute to a woman whose fearless vision helped expand possibilities for woman artists. Inspired by the organic forms and intimate relationship with nature found in her work, I allowed those influences to pass through my own visual language of abstraction, fragmentation, line and color. This painting is not an imitation, but a conversation across generations-one woman artist acknowledging another while continuing to find her own voice.
