My Tribe is Leaving Me by Julane Borth

“My Tribe is Leaving Me” by Julane Borth

The only thing worth writing about is the heart in conflict with itself.

                                                                                                William Faulkner

It’s time   rising from deep within is a message I’ve been waiting for

clarity has caught up   strength has caught up   I can see where I’ve

been walking in shoes too small for me   I’m free to wear the right size

rising inside is something I’ve longed for   the recognition of

and embracing the penumbra   the leftover from a lifetime

of shadow work  freeing myself from complexes that overtook me

I touch every one while moving slowly through the narrow gate

I watch them go   my need to please  unworthiness  pride

I let myself be known in the seclusion of my heart

where I may know my deepest Self

Julane Borth Artist Statement:

At last, I am willing to call myself a poet. Although most of my life my desires have outweighed my fears, it has taken me many years to see myself as a creative woman. I created and franchised a business, ran a not-for-profit agency; therefore, spending much of my time in my strategic mind. It’s been a gift to see what I have created and designed is that of a creative woman. I am now happy to claim my place in the world as a poet.
