Christy Sheffield Sanford Artist Statement:

Christy Sheffield Sanford, born in Atlanta, now lives in Northeast Florida. She has won a
National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Poetry. She holds a masters degree in Creative
Writing and Interarts from Antioch University. Sanford is the author of seven books including
The H’s: The Spasm of a Requiem and The Italian Smoking Piece. Numerous individual pieces have
appeared in literary magazines such as Exquisite Corpse, Fiction International, and Bacopa Literary
Review. She pioneered “Genre Fusion” mostly working with fiction and poetry and is currently
exploring joining poetry and the essay. Sanford was the first trAce virtual writer-in-residence.
Sanford’s mp4 “Julia Child’s Legs” was a finalist in the 2016 Carbon Culture Review video
contest. She has poetry videos forthcoming from Amp (Hofstra University) and Atticus Books.
She is collaborating with Charlotte M. Porter on “The Hem-nal.” A major theme is what we veil
or bare.
