Lyndia Radice Artist Statement:
Throughout my life, I have drawn, painted, and taken photographs. Music and art are essential parts of my spiritual practice: I strive to see that which matters. I use a mirror reflection technique to photograph plants, rocks, trees, and creatures. These photos uncover “worlds within worlds” that reveal the hidden spirits of the land and mother nature herself.
I was born in 1952 and raised in NYC. For ten years, I performed as classical musician in the US and Europe. At age 37, I earned MSW and MS Special Ed degrees and worked as a child therapist for 20 years. In 2001, I helped an indigenous community in the Amazon start a kindergarten. In 2006, I moved to rural New Mexico where I served as child/adolescent behavioral health coordinator for Alamo Navajo Reservation and provided mental health and developmental educational consultation services in Albuquerque until I retired in 2013. Currently, I am the Music Director for First Presbyterian Church in Socorro, NM.
My drawings have been exhibited in U.S. galleries. My photos are being shown at Tularosa Basin Gallery in Carrizozo, NM. In 2015-2016, I had solo exhibitions at Macey Gallery, NM Tech University, Socorro, NM and Tombaugh Gallery.
