Breathing Life into Venus, Breathing Life into Self by Tereza Swanda

What does my writing/art mean to me?

It’s freedom. No boundaries, no frame. An investment into play, knowing that if I just let ‘self’ go, the fluidity of paint creates not only the image but something much more: a relationship between me, the paint, and the viewer, something eternal, a trace, a memory, a feeling, embedded for all time.

Tereza Swanda Artist Statement:

I’m starting to trust my ground as a painter twenty-five years in the making (and a darned good one, I’m again just beginning to realize.) I’ve had the training, the schooling, the degrees, the technique, the unschooling with graduate work. But the trust was missing. So much judgment clouded the way. No more questioning. No more doubt. It’s time to share the skill, the strength, and all that is me, both shit and beauty intertwined, pointing to another knowing. Another way of being with and in the world.
