Marguerite María Rivas
Marguerite María Rivas’s essays, articles, book reviews, and poems have been published in journals and periodicals, both nationally and internationally. She has garnered numerous grants and awards, including the first Marg Chandler Memorial Award from AROHO. Cited by the New York State Legislature for her contribution to the literary arts, she is widely regarded as the de facto Poet Laureate of Staten Island. Her first full-length collection of poetry, Tell No One: Poems of Witness was published last year. She is an Associate Professor of English at Borough of Manhattan Community College of The City University of New York where she teaches creative writing and Latin@ Literature of the U.S. She is currently at work on a long-poem project.
