Kiril Nagornyj Artist Statement:
My artwork is a meditation on memory, transformation, and the sacred feminine. I work primarily with porcelain—a material that, to me, embodies both fragility and resilience. Its translucency allows light to move through the form, much like the way emotion, intuition, and ancestral memory move through the human experience. I use this delicate medium to tell stories that live beneath the surface—stories of love, loss, healing, and rebirth.
Much of my work is informed by my life as a mother, particularly to a child with special needs. Through her, I have learned to perceive the world beyond the visual—to sense, to listen, and to feel more deeply. This has changed the way I create. My sculptures often depict quiet faces, closed eyes, or symbolic forms that speak without words. They are not simply objects, but offerings—portals to the inner world, the dream world, the spirit world.
I also draw inspiration from plant medicine, ancient mythologies, and the rituals of women. My work honors the instinctual wisdom of the feminine—the kind passed down not in textbooks, but through touch, silence, and care. The act of making is itself a ritual for me, a healing process that invites others to reconnect with their own inner truths.
Each sculpture carries an element of mystery, a piece of a forgotten fairy tale, or a visual prayer for those who need to remember their strength. I want my work to be held, felt, and listened to. It’s about remembrance. It’s about love made visible. And ultimately, it’s about finding beauty and presence in the invisible spaces that shape who we are.
