Nikki Loftin is the author of three novels for young readers: THE SINISTER SWEETNESS OF SPLENDID ACADEMY, NIGHTINGALE’S NEST, and WISH GIRL. She’s won awards and starred reviews for her books. This year, she plans to use some of the magical time at AROHO to draft another novel that will probably, like her other books, be called “too tragic,” “too dark/edgy,” or too something-elsey. This thought gives Nikki great joy, as she delights in jerking the stuffy world’s chain. Nikki also writes literary fiction, poetry, and essays for adults, and has been published in numerous literary journals and anthologies. She studied French (BA, ’92) and Fiction Writing (MA, ’98) at UT Austin. A native Texan, she lives near Austin, surrounded by dogs, chickens, goats, and rambunctious boys. For fun, she teaches Zumba and bakes cookies, cakes, and cobblers. www.nikkiloftin.com
