A Room Of Her Own Foundation believes that the future can be changed by the artistic perspectives of women. Shamefully, we cannot be sure how much difference these voices could make because we do not see or hear enough of women in the marketplace. And women writers and artists do not have enough support.

Gifts of Freedom

The annual Gift of Freedom award of up to $50,000 is given to committed creative women who apply for support.

Nonprofit organizations have a record of supporting the arts that neither the government nor business can match. Foundations represent the best hope for creating a more humane, literate society.

A Room of Her Own Foundation’s unique approach recognizes and supports diverse artistic expressions—the written arts (fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry) as well as the visual arts (painting, sculpture and photography).
